As the rest of the world is overtaken by the prosperty and pollution of mass industry, many brave souls decide to claim their fortune in the open lands of the Wild Country. Some have great respect for the land and the people, but for many it is a place where no one can be trusted. Steam engines are the technology of the day, and pistols are at their highest use in ages... trading accuracy for power and speed, the biggest problem a gunslinger has is keeping his firearm repaired and loaded. What's in store for the new settlers?... What do the history books say about this area?

More or less unknown in this era. Though remnants and pieces of the old magic-using culture may still have survived, most people are skeptics and used to encountering swindlers who'll try to pull a fast one on them. Trying to educate people about "mystic knowledge" is about as pointless as explaining politics to a hedgehog. |
Technology: |
The new innovation of the day is steam engines. Trains and paddleboats roam the land and water, if you can afford and use one. Otherwise, there's always a trusty wagon or carriage, stock-full of supplies. A must for crossing the dangerous open landscapes!

A form of gunpowder is being produced in this era using a black mineral, found within the rich mesas in the heart of the expansive land. While it packs a punch compared to most explosives of other eras, it makes guns much less accurate. Moreover, the mineral's reaction is unpredictable, and has a tendency to misfire and damage the gun itself. Gunslingers are hard-challenged to master the use of a firearm.
