Hey everyone, A note from your friendly neighborhood Gamemaster. As many of you have noticed, Runic Flux has been sadly inactive for several weeks. This has been due, unfortunately, to our lack of a room to hold it in. Whacked Net has promised us a completely personalized room, which would be fast and easy to handle for all users alike, but for some unknown reason one of the webmasters there removed all the rooms before going on vacation. The Webmaster I've been corresponding with has promised several times that he'd find out what's up, but all the Whacked chatrooms have been down for almost two months now, and I've received no sign of progress since. If by some chance it were eventually finished, I'd gladly move the game to that room, but for now I think it's time to move on. The web has an amazing shortage of graphical html-based chatrooms that are actually easy to use... Smat's chat room service is remarkably one-of-a-kind. Unfortunately, his server is usually overloaded, and these days Webtv users have immense trouble using most of the rooms (by no fault of Smat; blame the designers of Webtv). Right now there are two options: Beseen, and Macray's. Beseen is a fairly decent service which offers free personal chat rooms that use frames and supports images, but not private messaging. Webtv users may experience some minor problems, but nothing that will prevent them from using it. The HTML coding used to design the room is very simple, which is both an advantage and a hindrance. Macray's is a service specially designed for message-based role-playing, with more HTML capabilities and features, but it isn't designed for chat. It was designed on a come-when-you're-ready basis, where people leave updates of their interactions several times a week instead of actually meeting. I don't know whether it can be used effectively for chat. If you're a member and would like to preview these services and give me feedback, contact me at zipo@animefan.org or over ICQ. Thanks, and happy role-playing to you all! =) |
